Since ancient times, our traditions and cultures have been praised by those who leave the home for a great mission, face threats and victory over them, and eventually return to their moods and lives. This heroic narrative has not changed for thousands of years. Have you ever asked yourself why many of us are always in favor of the heroes of the stories and enjoy watching action movies? Why are we inspired by stories about obstacles and struggles, perseverance and victory?
Why don’t these stories never get old? In this post, I want to talk to you about being a hero and introduce four practical ways to become the hero of your life. If the heroes have always been commendable to you, you must be with us by the end.
Why are the heroes appealing to us?
Before we say how to become a hero, let’s see why heroes are attractive to us. In Year 2, Joseph Campbell, American writer and thinker, wrote of heroic journey; A mythical journey that all human beings experience in their lives. He believed that the highest goal of our lives was to finish Mosenan as a mythical and heroic journey. The heroes are not limited to time and place and have no strange features.
What makes it an unforgettable and attractive hero, not his power but his will. We respect their ability to overcome their problems and continue their path. When we see the heroes, for a few moments, we put ourselves in place and try to see life through them. But what makes a champion invincible? Why does the person who has fallen hundreds of times gets up and keep going?
The answer is easier than what you think: the story! Not every story, but a narrative that narrates a completely personal path and that one must go alone. This story may be the story that the grandfather or the hero’s grandmother has told the fire, or an inspirational to a trainer or painful experience that eventually transformed her life.
The source of this story is not important, but it is important that it has infiltrated the depth of our hero. He does not consider the threats, crises, and uptakes of his life to be separate events, but considers them to be parts of one whole. Just like a beautiful cloth, the taropod is intertwined with all its defeats and victories and has formed his life. This becomes a driving force and leads him to a high goal. Every step he takes, every goal he pursues, and every time he falls, he looks at this process in a more general image. The hero is not lost in detail; He sees the forest, not just the trees!
How to be the hero of our lives?
Now that we find out where the secret of the champions and the desire to be heroic comes from, let’s see how we can become a hero:
1. Practice focus!
Take a pen and paper and write down 2 of your most important goals and dreams. You can also use your PC or mobile phone to do this. Do this generously in this exercise. Once the list of your goals and dreams is completed, review them and delete some items. Finally, you have to reach a list of the most important goals of your life.
To do this exercise, we recommend that you avoid distractions, including mobile and the Internet, and take at least an hour to do this exercise. After doing this exercise, you will reach two lists: One of these lists is your top 5 goals and the other you have to throw away. The first list should be in front of your eyes to remind you of your important goals every day and know what to take the most. After you wrote your goals, divide them into annual, seasonal and monthly.
2. Start your trip
This path is both exciting and scary. But don’t wait for tomorrow and start it right now; Exactly right now! If you want to start writing a book for a long time, start now. If you would like to take a passport right now. If you are interested in photography, start training through YouTube. Don’t wait for the right time; This is not the external thing at all! Starting is the first and most important step of the heroic journey.
1. Fight with monsters!
Happiness is the by -product of the meaningful experiences of our lives and we cannot achieve it directly. Even if we get it, it will not be stable. In addition, you have to enjoy the path and do not wait for happiness, to reach a specific moment or achieve goals. To become a hero, you must fight the dangers and so -called monsters of your life and admit that failure is part of the process of life.
1. The heroes always come home!
Each championship comes back home after traveling, more experienced and stronger than ever before. Be sure to set a time to review the path you’ve been here. Take a pen and paper and write down where you were on such a day and where you have reached today. You can even share your experiences with others. Nothing in life is as valuable and inspiring.
How to find the story of our lives?
If you are looking for an incentive to go beyond everyday goals and make your life meaningful in a larger way, you need to tell the story of your life. You are a hero right now; Just write your story and live it with all its existence. In the first step, you need to determine what matters to you and what you want to focus on.
In this case, the focus exercise we talked about in the previous section is a solution. Take a notebook and write down the desires and goals of your life. Finally, select 2 of the most important. This will make your focus from the mass of scattered desires to things that are really valuable to you and save from confusion.
Writing these two goals on paper is a confirmation of your personal values. You can even attach these goals to the wall of your room so that you can always remember them. The most influential changes always start from the simplest tasks. This prioritization exercise is the recommendation of Warren Buffett. He suggested this to his pilot who was confused. He said: The secret to success is to invest your focus on a few limited goals; No – for example – 2 scattered goals.
In addition, you have to look at the image of your life with a generalist view. By doing so, you will consider the extravagance of your life as parts of a big journey. As a result, you will no longer be involved in small and scattered goals and divide your mind between thousands of small tasks. Instead of responding to any event, you maintain your focus and consider challenges as part of a coherent whole, the hero’s perspective is. Until you ask yourself what is really more important, you can’t see the story of your life more clearly. You might like to experience everything, but in the end you have to admit that with such a view, you can’t do anything right and be the hero of your life.
Everyone can be a hero!
Unfortunately, the modern world, with all its progress, has removed us from our roots. The traditions are diminished, and every day it passes, our relationship with our true self becomes less. The result is that many of us look out of ourselves to motivate ourselves, and instead of referring to ourselves, we care about motivational quotes and inspirational lectures. We hope that the guidelines we have provided will be useful and help you take more motivation and peace in the path of being a hero. Be sure to share your experiences and comments in this field in the comments section.
